George Beckett Nurseries was established in 1976 producing container-grown plants for the wholesale market.

In 1980 we opened our nursery here at Compton to the public for retail sales. We now produce an extensive range of plants, trees and shrubs all with descriptive or picture labels.

More mature specimens of many of the plants can be seen in our pleasant gardens to give an idea of how they will look in your garden in years to come.

 Our staff are all involved in growing as well as selling our plants and can help with your questions if required.

You may choose from our total stock of around 400,000 plants, many grown in containers for all-year round successful planting. A lot of our land is used for production of “open ground” specimens of conifers, trees and shrubs so that larger examples can be offered for sale. Unlike the container grown plants, sale of these larger specimens is restricted to the lifting season which is usually late October to March depending on the weather. You may however reserve and tag any of these plants outside the season for lifting and delivery when available.

After over 30 years in the nursery trade we have extensive contacts with other growers both within the UK and abroad, so are able to locate and supply many varieties and sizes of plants not listed in our catalogue. We pride ourselves on being knowledgeable plantsmen and can give advice on suitability and availability of plants for any purpose.

DELIVERY by our own vehicles is available throughout the south of England. Many orders are delivered free of charge in the Winchester area. Please ask for a quotation when ordering.

TERMS are payment on collection or delivery. We accept all major debit/credit cards.
